Where we're coming from

Brighter Investment is a fast growing company based in Vancouver, Canada. We ambition a world where all students have the possibility to reach the full potential of their talents and share the rewards with their financial backers.

Living in Mexico and South Africa opened our eyes to the large number of talented students that can't attend University for financial reasons. For up to 85% of qualified students in developing countries, there are no loans or scholarships available to get a degree, despite the high financial return for the student and social return for the country. This discrepancy provides us with a huge opportunity for change, for growth, and for investment.

Instead of limiting these young students’ futures because of their family status, Brighter Investment provides investors with the opportunity to back the engineers, doctors and scientists of the future. This partnership benefits both student and investor, socially and financially. The future is bright, you can be part of it.

Management Team

Thijs Mathot While working on a project in Mexico for a real estate developer, Thijs pooled money with some colleagues to support a Mexican student through university. Witnessing the high financial and social returns of this student’s degree first hand, Thijs got an idea: Why not invest in high potential students instead of real estate projects? The return is clearly higher and it will help solve financial barriers to higher education. That is the idea behind thijs his current company Brighter Investment. Thijs holds a Master’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering and in International Business. Before starting Brighter Investment, Thijs worked for an aerospace firm, a real estate developer, he worked on public private partnership projects and he set up the North American branch for a Dutch software startup.
