Investor Relations Manager
BUSINESS DESCRIPTION:
Brighter Investment is a social impact company that finances the higher education of brilliant students in Africa.
In developing countries, brilliant high school students are unable to access higher education because of financial difficulties and there is no suitable financial service to help these students access funding. This leaves millions of high school students out of decent work and unrealized high potential incomes and represents a $600 billion value creating opportunity.
We’ve taken a data-driven approach to this problem and have developed an underwriting algorithm that allows us to back the most promising students pursuing the degrees with the best career prospects. Students receive full funding for their university degree. They are paired with a mentor to ensure a successful transition to employment. After graduation, students repay a fixed percentage of their income for a set period of time. Besides reducing poverty and (gender)inequalities, our market-driven approach also incentivizes improvements in education quality and stimulates economic growth. Impact investors such as Vancity, Social Capital Foundation, Concordia Foundation, etc. have helped us prove that this model works and we need your help to raise the funds to scale it up.
Here’s Alfred. Our Marketing Specialist
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Your role will be to make deals. The majority of your time will be spent on raising money together with our finance specialist Belinda. You'll research the investor landscape, reach out to suitable partners and convince them to invest. When you’re not working with investors you’ll work with our marketing guru Alfred to sign up new schools and universities that his market research identified. Occasionally you’ll work with the CEO to sign deals with new partners and governments to expand the program to other African countries.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Together with Belinda, identify suitable investors, reach out, pitch the opportunity and close the deal
Help the team develop and implement a proactive investor relations strategy.
Assist Alfred in marketing with signing new partnerships with schools and universities
Along with the CEO, prepare key messages and presentations to communicate Brighter Investment’s progress and performance to key internal and external stakeholders.
THIS IS YOU:
Experience in private, public, and/or government institution in one or more of the following areas: investor relations, finance, accounting, and/or business operations
A proven deal-maker, preferably in investment deals.
Strong leadership presence with the ability to build strong relationships across senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders
Impeccable interpersonal skills, including the proven ability to communicate both orally and in writing
Ability to work well under time pressure and juggle multiple priorities
High level of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to success
